John Chow opens Kontera Content Links for your blog!

If you go to the bigger tech related sites you probably have noticed double underlined links in text there, when you mouseover them a little bubble pops-up with an ad in it:

That’s usually either Kontera or Intellitxt pay per click inline ads. And if you click on this ad, the site owner gets paid for each click.

I always had a feeling that they would work great on my tech blogs and wanted to put them there. Unfortunately both of these programs accept only the sites with 500K+ pageviews a month and that is a far cry of what I am doing. (At least that’s the official line, since I saw some claims that they will accept anyone with good tech content site).

Well, today John Chow announced that he has arranged a partnership with Kontera and they now officially accept all sites based on their content and not traffic. So any blog is eligible, if it signs up via “John Chow Kontera Partnership” from John’s blog.

I am already in and waiting for Kontera to approve my application.

Of course, this is not a charity from John’s side and he stands to make quite a nice change from all the new clicks that his referrals will generate. Let’s see how he does in March, but with Kontera aff. income coming, in I would not be surprised if his April income will be somewhere between 20 and 30K.

Good for you John and big thanks!

[...] Kontera is pretty well known program that inserts inline text links into your blog post text. When user mouses over the link, a small box with ad appears and if user clicks on it, you get paid. So far the program was closed for publishers with less then 500K+ pageviews a month, but John Chow has arranged to accept any publisher with good content, regardless of his traffic. I wrote more about Kontera John Chow Partnership here. [...]

You do NOT need to use John Chow at all for Kontera. He just pulled a fast and dishonest one on everybody. Kontera stopped using the traffic requirement months ago. There have been blogs that are only 2 weeks old that have been accepted for Kontera.

The fact is that the ONLY person his “so-called” partnership benefits is him! And that’s very sad. He’s lost a lot of readers recently due to such unethical behavior. You’d never see Darren Rowse of ProBlogger ever attempt to pull this king of trickery on his readers. Darren actually respects people; John uses them.

Well, I heard that after John’s post and before signing up for Kontera service through his partnership. And I also heard that some other marketers like Joell Comm did this kind of promotion earlier.

So what? Due to the traffic clause in their requirements list I never even considered applying for Kontera at all. And I did not see other bigger bloggers informing that I can sign-up for Kontera with small traffic blog.

I applied through John’s partnership, got approved and had the ads running on my site within 24hrs. And it did not cost me anything.

I cannot see how that’s a “fast one”. The fact is that John referred me to Kontera and will receive affiliate commission for it. But isn’t that what affiliate sales is about?
